Shoplifted will make his first start around two turns in Friday’s $300,000 American Pharoah S. (G1) at Santa Anita Park in a key prep race for the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1), which will run at the same track on Nov. 1.

Shoplifted, a son of leading sire Into Mischief, is owned by Cheyenne Stables LLC in partnership with Grandview Equine and LNJ Foxwoods.

The colt has already made his mark on the 2-year-old scene this summer, breaking his maiden impressively by 4 1/2-lengths at first asking at Saratoga on July 27. He came back to be a game second in the Hopeful S. (G1) on Sept. 2, and has been training there since with Steve Asmussen.

The 1 1/16-mile American Pharoah, which runs at 7:30 p.m. ET, drew a field of nine runners. Shoplifted is in post seven, and will tote 122 pounds, including jockey Joel Rosario, who was aboard in the Hopeful.
