Hoosier Philly, who drew onto the also-eligible list for the May 5th Kentucky Oaks (G1), took advantage of that time off to register a pair of bullet works as she prepped for Friday’s $300,000 Black-Eyed Susan S. (G2) at Pimlico.
Bred by Candy Meadows, 3-year-old Hoosier Philly reeled off three consecutive victories in her first three outings, including the Golden Rod S. (G2) and Rags to Riches S., both at Churchill Downs.
This year, she was third in the Rachel Alexandra S. (G2) and fourth in the Fair Grounds Oaks (G2). In both starts, she finished behind eventual Kentucky Oaks (G1) winner Pretty Mischievous, who is skipping the Black-Eyed Susan.
Hoosier Philly, who has earned $478,610, is owned by Gold Standard Racing Stable LLC. She sold for $510,000 from the Candy Meadows consignment at the 2021 Keeneland September Yearling sale.
Friday’s 1 1/8-mile contest drew a full field of 12, with Hoosier Philly in post 3 for trainer Tom Amoss and jockey Edgar Morales. Post time for race 13 is 5:44 p.m. EDT.
