Hoosier Philly, off a sharp score in the $175,000 Monomoy Girl S. at Ellis Park, will try for her second stakes win in a row in Friday night’s $750,000 Charles Town Oaks (G3) at the West Virginia track.
Bred by Candy Meadows Farm, 3-year-old Hoosier Philly is the first foal to race out of Tapella, who has a 2-year-old named Ava’s Look, also bred by Candy Meadows and has yet to start. With additional stakes wins in the Goldenrod S. (G2) and Rags to Riches S., Hoosier Philly has earned $644,510 to date.
Hoosier Philly is a daughter of multiple champion sire Into Mischief. Candy Meadows consigned and sold her for $510,000 at the 2021 Keeneland September Yearling sale.
The Charles Town Oaks, at seven furlongs, drew a full field of 10 for the two-turn race. Hoosier Philly is in post six, with regular rider Edgar Morales aboard for trainer Tom Amoss. Post time for the 10th race on the stakes-filled card in 9:44 pm ET.
