Multiple stakes winner Hoosier Philly faces her next challenge on Saturday in the $1 million Cotillion S. (G1) at Parx.
The 1 1/16-mile race for 3-year-old filly is a Win and You’re In Challenge Race for the Breeders’ Cup Distaff (G1) in early November at Santa Anita Park.
Bred by Candy Meadows LLC, Hoosier Philly will stretch back out in distance after trying the tight turns and a wet track in the Charles Town Oaks (G3) last month. Her record at the Cotillion distance includes wins in the Golden Rod S. (G2) and Rags to Riches S., both at Churchill Downs.
Trained by Tom Amoss for the Gold Standard Racing Stable LLC, Hoosier Philly will be ridden Saturday for the first time by Hall of Fame jockey John Velazquez. The gray/roan filly drew post four in the field of nine that includes Grade 1 winners Pretty Mischievous and Defining Purpose.
The Cotillion is race 12 on Saturday’s card, with a scheduled post time of 5:20 pm ET.
