Millionaire Bay Storm, bred by Candy Meadows LLC and owned by Bridlewood Farm, will go for her third straight stakes win on Oct. 15 in Keeneland’s $350,000 Franklin S. (G2).
The 5-year-old dark bay mare has been a model of consistency in her career as a turf sprinter, sporting a record of 6-6-3 in 17 starts, with earnings of $1,313,315. The daughter of two-time stakes winner Stormy Regatta has four stakes wins, the two most recent coming in the Ladies Turf Sprint S. (G2) in September at Kentucky Downs and the Kentucky Downs Preview Ladies Turf Sprint at Ellis Park in August.
The five-furlong Franklin drew a very good field of nine distaffers, including Caravel, winner of last year’s Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint (G1). Ladies Turf Sprint runner-up Wakanaka (IRE) and European shipper Star Guest (GB) from the Charlie Appleby barn.
Bay Storm, trained by Jonathan Thomas, will be ridden by Florent Geroux and breaks from post 5. The Franklin is race seven on Saturday, with a post time of 4:12 pm ET.
