Rhetorical, owned by Gary Barber Cheyenne Stable & Wachtel Stable, drew post 11 in the field of 13 for the $2 million Breeders’ Cup Mile (G1) Saturday at Del Mar.

The 4-year-old comes into the contest riding a four-race winning streak, most recently taking the Turf Mile (G1) at Keeneland on Oct. 4. In that race, Rhetorical earned a Beyer Speed Figure of 101, among the highest of the American-based runners in the field.

After a win and third in mid-2024, Rhetorical was given eight months off before returning with a five-length allowance win May 18 at Aqueduct. He has been unbeatable since, taking another allowance and the West Point S., both at Saratoga, before his Keeneland win.

The dark bay’s overall record stands at 5-0-1 in six starts, with earnings of $824,700.
