Clothes Fall Off turned in her best performance in nearly a year in Saturday’s $300,000 Barbara Fritchie H. (G2) at Laurel Park. The 5-year-old Cheyenne Stables mare finished third, beaten just 1 1/2-lengths, after a four-wide trip on the turn.
The daughter of Daaher, who was making her second start following a nine-month layoff, gave a top effort the entire seven furlongs. After traveling between horses for the first three furlongs, she had to swing very wide coming into the stretch and made up good ground all the way to the wire.
Clothes Fall Off picked up $30,000 for her effort and is has now earned $399,160. She has won or placed in five stakes and has finished in the top three in 11 of her 14 lifetime starts.
