Genre chalked up yet another top-two finish with a rallying second in Saturday’s $150,000 Heavenly Prize S. at Aqueduct. The Cheyenne Stables’ filly has finished first or second in 11 of her 15 starts and has now earned $457,700.
In what was an oddly run race, Genre chased a loose leader Isabelle while in second for the first half-mile. Into the final turn, Genre began to loose ground noticeably, and looked destined to finish far out of the running. However, after coming into the homestretch, Genre found a second wind and rallied from fourth to second on the wire.
Genre’s career includes wins in the Molly Pitcher S. (G3) and $200,000 Lady Jacqueline S. The 5-year-old daughter of Bernardini has hit the board in 11 straight races, including eight stakes, dating back to February of 2015.
