Cariba makes first foray into stakes company

Cheyenne Stables’ 4-year-old filly Cariba will make her first stakes start on Saturday at Saratoga in the $200,000 Caress S.

Coming off a sharp turf allowance score June 28 at Belmont Park, Cariba drew post nine in the ten-horse field that will be traveling 5 1/2-furlongs on the outer turf course.

Though lightly raced, Cariba has been very consistent, finishing worse than second only twice in her seven lifetime starts.

A daughter of Cairo Prince, Cariba is trained by Christophe Clement and will be ridden for the first time on Saturday by leading rider Irad Ortiz, Jr.

The Caress is race 12 on Saturday, with a post time of 7:22 p.m. EDT.
