With three of his five wins in turf stakes, Cowboy Culture is one of the headliners in Saturday’s $200,000 Twilight Derby (G2) at Santa Anita Park.
The 3-year-old colt, owned by Head of Plains Partners and Cheyenne Stables, is riding his own personal winning streak, taking the $200,000 Centaur S. and Arlington Classic (G3) in his previous two starts. The well-traveled son of Quality Road will be starting over his sixth different racetrack in eight starts.
Cowboy Culture, trained by Brad Cox, drew post 2 in the field of 11 and will be ridden by Florent Geroux, who has been aboard for all by one of the bay colt’s starts.
The 1 1/8-mile Twilight Derby drew a very competitive field that includes Del Mar Derby (G2) winner Sharp Samurai, Commonwealth Derby (G3) winner Just Howard and Transylvania S. (G3) winner Big Score.
The Twilight Derby is race 9 on Saturday, with a post time of 7:30 p.m. ET.
