Eakly will make his second start of the year in the $130,000 Oklahoma Turf Classic H. Oct. 18 at Remington Park, one month after a very good effort in the Red Earth S. over the same course.
The 7 ½-furlong Red Earth was the first start in nine months for the 4-year-old Cheyenne Stables LLC homebred. Eakly was a game second in that race, and now stretches out to 1 1/16-miles, his preferred distance, for next Friday night’s contest.
Trained by Donnie K Von Hemel, Eakly won the 2023 Turf Classic in front-running style, his lone stakes win to date. He has placed in a trio of other added-money races and in the top 3 in 11 of 15 lifetime starts.
Eakly drew the outside post in the field of seven. The Turf Classic is the 10th race on the card and will run at approximately 11:02 pm CT.
