Girl Talk very game in first stakes start

The $100,000 Ladies H. Jan. 21 at Aqueduct marked the first stakes start for Girl Talk, and the 5-year-old mare did not disgrace herself at all, finishing second by a neck to Just Got Out after a very wide trip on both turns.

Owned by Cheyenne Stables in partnership with Ramona Bass, Girl Talk was three wide on the first turn, then even wider in the final bend before launching her bid in the stretch. Coming from fourth, she was closing all the way to the wire, coming up just a neck behind the winner in a valiant effort.

Her trainer Kiaran McLaughlin said the daughter of Medaglia d’Oro came out of the race well and should be back in action in about a month.

Girl Talk’s record now stands at 2-2-1 in seven starts, with earnings of $117,545.
