Candy Meadows bred Hoosier Philly was assigned post 1 for Saturday’s $2 million Breeders’ Cup Distaff (G1), part of an 11-horse field looking to secure championship honors.
Candy Meadows consigned and sold Hoosier Philly for $510,000 at the 2021 Keeneland September Yearling sale.
Hoosier Philly is looking to reclaim some of the glory that came early in her career when she won three straight races in dominant fashion, including the Golden Rod S. (G2) and Rags to Riches S., both at Churchill Downs.
She has been training extremely well in the lead-up to the Breeder’s Cup for trainer Tom Amoss, registering a pair of bullet works in the last two weeks at the Louisville oval.
Amoss has enlisted the services of jockey Luis Saez for Saturday’s 1 1/8-mile contest. This is the first time he has been aboard the Gold Standard Racing Stable LLC-owned filly.
The Distaff is race seven on Saturday’s card, with a post time of 5:10 pm ET.
