Hoosier Philly returns to Churchill Downs for G2 Locust Grove S.

Hoosier Philly will make her next start in Saturday’s $400,000 Locust Grove S. at Churchill Downs, the site of one of the 4-year-old filly’s greatest triumphs.

The Candy Meadows LLC-bred won the Golden Rod S. (G2) to end her 2-year-old season. She has raced at Churchill just once since, on June 1, when she was a close fourth in the Shawnee S. (G3).

The 1 1/16-mile Locust Grove drew a field of eight, with Hoosier Philly in the outside gate for trainer Tom Amoss and jockey Irad Ortiz, Jr, who will be riding the daughter of Into Mischief for the first time. Ortiz finished tied for the top spot in the jockey standings for the recently concluded Kentucky Downs meet.

Owned by Gold Standard Racing Stable LLC, Hoosier Philly has four career stakes wins and has earned $860,785.

The Locust Grove is race 7 on Saturday, with a post time of 3:53 pm ET.
