Candy Meadows-bred Hoosier Philly earned her second stakes win of the year on day after Christmas when she took the Joseph Broussard Memorial S. at Fair Grounds.
Hoosier Philly was a dominant 4 ¾-length winner of the 1 mile and 70-yard Broussard. Leading from start to finish, the gray/roan 4-year-old set a measured pace of :48.35 for the half-mile, then when called upon around the turn, widened her margin with relative ease to finish in 1:43.20 on a fast track.
“Her training for this race had been brilliant. But she’s always been a brilliant horse in the morning,” said trainer Tom Amoss. “This was a test for the horse to see what she can do. We’re very excited about her and looking forward to a 2025 campaign.”
Hoosier Philly now sports a record of 6-1-1 in 16 starts and has earned $924,455 for Gold Standard Racing Stable, LLC. Now a five-time stakes winner, Hoosier Philly is out of the Tapit mare Tapella, who is in foal to Gun Runner for 2025.
