Well-traveled Hoosier Philly is headed to Texas for Lone Star Park’s $125,000 Wasted Tears S. on June 29. Saturday’s race will mark the ninth different race track the Candy Meadows-bred has visited in her 13 career starts.
Coming off a credible fourth-place effort in a very tough renewal of the Shawnee S. (G3) June 1 at Churchill Downs, Hoosier Philly drew the inside post in the field 10 fillies and mares going 1 1/16-miles on the turf.
Saturday’s race is the turf debut for the 4-year-old, who signaled her affinity for the surface when she worked a bullet four furlongs in :48 seconds flat June 16 at Churchill.
Owned by Gold Standard Racing Stable LLC, Hoosier Philly has amassed $858,910 in earnings, with four stakes wins.
The Tom Amoss trainee will be ridden for the first time by Martin Pedroza. The Wasted Tears is race six, with a post time of 4:55 ET.
