Hoosier Philly tops field of six for Saturday’s Rachel Alexandra S. (G2)

Saturday’s $300,000 Rachel Alexandra S. (G2)  marks the first start of the year for Hoosier Philly as she begins her preparation for the Kentucky Oaks (G1).  The Rachel Alexandra offers 50-20-15-10-5 Oaks qualifying points to the top five finishers.

Hoosier Philly, who was undefeated in three starts at two, including a five-length victory in the Golden Rod S. (G2) at Churchill Downs, was bred in Kentucky by Candy Meadows Farm. By the champion sire Into Mischief, Hoosier Philly is the first foal out of Tapella. The gray/roan filly was consigned by Candy Meadows and sold for $510,000 at the 2021 Keeneland September Yearling sale.

In preparation for Saturday’s 1 1/16-mile race for 3-year-old fillies, on Feb. 11 Hoosier Philly fired her third bullet in as many works since returning to trainer Tom Amoss’ barn from her Florida freshening. She went five furlongs in :47.40, the fastest of 86 runners.

Owned by the Gold Standard Racing Stable LLC, Hoosier Philly drew post 2 for Saturday’s 12th race, which has a scheduled post time of 6:41 p.m. ET.
