Cheyenne Stables LLC’s Grade 1-placed colt Mondego has made the trip to California to contest Saturday’s $250,000 Twilight Derby (G2) at Santa Anita Park.

The 3-year-old colt has been training regularly at his Belmont Park base since running an even fourth in the Sept. 9 Virginia Derby (G3). The Twilight Derby is at nine furlongs on the grass, the same distance and surface that Mondego broke his maiden and won an allowance race earlier this year at Belmont Park.

The bay son of Lope de Vega (IRE) is trained by Christophe Clement and will be ridden by Joel Rosario, who was aboard for the colt’s victories. Mondego is in post 11 in the 13-horse field.

The Twilight Derby is race two on Saturday’s Breeders’ Cup card, and is the final race before the Breeders’ Cup races begin. Post time is 1:50 pm ET.
