Ozara (IRE) will face an elite field of grass distaffers Sunday at Del Mar when the Cheyenne Stable LLC colorbearer goes postward in the $300,000 Matriarch S. (G1).

The Matriarch is run at one mile on the grass, perfectly suited to Ozara, who has won at the distance four times, including in stakes at Gulfstream Park and Saratoga.

Ozara won a pair of stakes during this year’s Saratoga meet: the Ballston Spa S. (G2) and De La Rose S., and has an overall record of 7-2-2 in 14 starts, with earnings of $606,382.

The Matriarch drew a field of 10, with Ozara in post six. The field features graded winners such as Ag Bullet, Medoro, and Heredia (GB). Trained by Miguel Clement, Ozara will be ridden for the first time by Antonio Fresu.

The Matriarch is race seven on Sunday, with a post time of 6:30 pm ET.
