Fresh off her victory in Saratoga’s Ballston Spa S. (G2), Cheyenne Stables LLC’s Ozara (IRE) will seek her first Grade 1 win in Saturday’s $800,000 First Lady S. (G1) at Keeneland.
The First Lady drew an overflow field of 16 fillies and mares, with a maximum of 12 allowed to run. Ozara, in post 10, will be ridden by Irad Ortiz, Jr. for trainer Miguel Clement.
All 12 distaffers in the star-studded field are graded stakes winners, including winners from Dubai, England, Argentina and France.
Ozara, who won Saratoga’s De La Rose S. prior to the Ballston Spa, is the only horse in the Jenny Wiley field with two stakes wins in her latest two starts. Normally tactically-placed in her races, she should find herself just behind the leaders in Saturday’s one-mile turf affair.
Ozara sports an excellent record of 4-1-1 in eight starts at a mile, and is 7-2-2 in 13 overall starts, with earnings of $598,257.
The First Lady is race 8 on Saturday’s program, with a post time of 4:44 pm ET.
