Ozara (IRE) weaves her way to victory in De La Rose S.

Ozara got her fourth career stakes win on the opening day of the 2025 Saratoga meet in the $135,000 De La Rose S. as she threaded her way through traffic in the stretch to prevail by a half-length in the one-mile turf race for fillies and mares.

The 4-year-old filly, owned by Cheyenne Stable LLC, now has won or placed in eight stakes races and earned $433,257.

After breaking from the inside post, Ozara tucked into the third spot along the rail, with Spinning Colors setting all the early fractions. As the field made its way around the final bend, Ozara was boxed in and had to be restrained by jockey Dylan Davis. She was still stuck behind horses in midstretch, when Davis swung three-wide for clear runner. Ozara responded with a strong kick and powered to the lead to secure the win.

“She’s great,” said trainer Miguel Clement. “She is very consistent. She’s got tactical speed, a great turn of foot. I thought Dylan gave her a brilliant ride, saving every inch of ground. The turf course is very speed-favoring still. I think being forwardly placed made the difference today.”

With a record of 6-2-2 in 12 starts, Ozara has finished off the board only twice in her career. Her unraced dam Cercle d’Or is a half-sister to to English multiple Group 1 stakes winner Golden Horn (GB).
