Roses for Debra one of three distaffers in BC Turf Sprint (G1)

John O’Meara and Cheyenne Stable LLC’s multiple stakes winner Roses for Debra is part of a full field of 12 entered in Saturday’s $1 million Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint (G1) at Santa Anita Park.

The 4-year-old filly is one of a trio of females set to contest the five-furlong dash, joining last year’s winner Caravel and Tony Ann, who recently beat Caravel in Keeneland’s Franklin S. (G2).

Roses for Debra has had an excellent 2023 since coming into the Christophe Clement barn early this year. She won four straight races, including the Caress S. (G3) and the Smart N Fancy S., both at Saratoga. In her most recent work for Saturday’s race, she worked three furlongs in a very swift :35 seconds flat at Belmont Park.

Roses for Debra drew post nine and will be ridden by Irad Ortiz, Jr., who was aboard for both stakes wins this summer.

As the 10th race on Saturday’s card, the Sprint has a post time of 7:25 pm ET.
