Roses for Debra, who got the winter off following the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint (G1) in early November, will make her 2024 debut Saturday at Keeneland in the $300,000 Giant’s Causeway S. (G3).
Owned by Cheyenne Stable LLC and John O’Meara, the now 5-year-old mare drew post 8 in the full field of 12 that will travel 5 ½-furlongs on the turf.
Roses for Debra also got a winter break in early 2023, and came back in excellent form, reeling off four wins in a row, including the Caress S. (G3) and Smart N Fancy S., both at Saratoga last summer.
A gray/roan daughter of Liam’s Map, Roses for Debra has been training in Florida this winter with Christophe Clement and has posted a pair of bullet works in recent weeks in preparation for Saturday’s start. She’ll be ridden by Irad Ortiz, Jr., who was aboard for both her 2023 stakes wins.
Post time for the Giant’s Causeway, race 7 on the card, is 4:12 ET.
