Cheyenne Stable LLC and John O’Meara’s Roses for Debra, who turned in a huge performance in Keeneland’s Giant’s Causeway S. (G3), will try to duplicate that stellar effort in Friday’s $200,000 Intercontinental S. (G2) at Saratoga.
The Intercontinental is part of the relocated Belmont S. (G1) festival that has been moved this year to historic Saratoga while Belmont Park undergoes renovations.
The Intercontinental, at 5 ½-furlongs on the turf, drew a field of 10 fillies and mares, with Roses for Debra in post 6 for trainer Christophe Clement and jockey Irad Ortiz, Jr., who has ridden the 5-year-old daughter of Liam’s Map in her last five starts.
As is nearly always the case at Saratoga, Roses for Debra will face a solid field of foes, including Love Reigns (IRE), who was second in the Giant’s Causeway, as well as stakes winners Future Is Now, Lady Milagro, and Medalla Match.
The Intercontinental is the first of four stakes on Friday’s card, and as race 9, it has a scheduled post time of 4:55 ET.
