Saratoga’s $350,000 Hopeful S. (G1) on Labor Day annually features the top 2-year-olds on the East Coast, and Cheyenne Stables is part of the mix this year with their dynamic colt Shoplifted, who is co-owned with Grandview Equine and LNJ Foxwoods.
Shoplifted, an $800,000 purchase at the Fasig-Tipton March sale, lived up to his billing in his debut, powering to a 4 1/2-length victory in a July 27 maiden special weight at Saratoga.
Ridden by Rafael Santana, Jr. in his debut, Shoplifted will get the services of Joel Rosario for trainer Steve Asmussen in the Hopeful.
Shoplifted is a son of this year’s leading sire Into Mischief, who himself won the CashCall Futurity (G1) as a 2-year-old.
The Hopeful drew a field of seven and is race 10 on Monday, with a post time of 5:39 p.m. ET.
