Shoplifted draws post three for Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1)

Grade 1-placed Shoplifted will break from post three in Friday’s $2 million Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1) as the son of Into Mischief tries for his first stakes victory.

The 2-year-old colt is owned by Cheyenne Stables LLC, along with Grandview Equine and LNJ Foxwoods. Trained by Steve Asmussen, Shoplifted won his July 27 debut at Saratoga and then finished second in the Hopeful S. (G1). He has earned $125,500 to date.

With the scratch of Maxfield, there are just eight horses left in the field for Friday’s 1 1/16-mile contest at Santa Anita Park. Shoplifted will be reunited with Rafael Santana, Jr., who rode the bay colt in his debut.

Shoplifted has been at Santa Anita for approximately a month, and turned in his best of four works on Oct. 22, getting five furlongs in 1:00 1/5.

Post time for Friday’s ninth race is 4:03 p.m. PT.
