Thunder Ride makes stakes debut in Woodbine’s Display S.

Thunder Ride, a sharp first-out winner on Nov. 11 for Cheyenne Stables and John Oxley, jumps into stakes competition in Saturday’s $100,000 Display S. at Woodbine.

The 2-year-old son of Pioneerof the Nile was very professional in his six-furlong unveiling three weeks ago, stalking off the pace before slipping through a narrow opening in mid-stretch to win by two lengths (see video).

Saturday’s 1 1/16-mile Display drew a field of nine, with Thunder Ride in the outside post for trainer Mark Casse and jockey Patrick Husbands. Thunder Ride was purchased by his owners at the 2016 Keeneland September Yearling sale and is out of the Deputy Minister mare Pontiana, whose dam Shine Again was a five-time graded stakes winner of over $1.2 million.

The Display S. is race 6 on Woodbine’s Saturday card, with a scheduled post of 3:36 p.m. ET.
