Harry T. Rosenblum and Cheyenne Stable LLC’s Time for Truth will try to make post 13 a lucky one in Saturday’s $1.25 million Rebel S. (G2) at Oaklawn Park.
The 3-year-old colt, who possesses considerable early turn of foot, will likely use some of that speed to establish good position when he breaks from the far outside in the 1 1/16-mile race.
The Rebel winner will be awarded 50 points as part of the Road to the Kentucky Derby championship series, a number that has historically secured a spot in the starting gate for the first Saturday in May.
Time for Truth, a son of promising young sire Omaha Beach, earned his way into the Rebel starting gate with a very solid second in the Ozark S. over this same track on Feb. 10. Prior to that, he won his debut maiden special weight race, also at Oaklawn, on Dec. 31.
The Rebel will be the bay colt’s first start around two turns for trainer Ron Moquett. Out of a mare by Preakness S. (G1) winner Lookin At Lucky, Time for Truth’s breeding suggests he will handle the added distance well.
As he was in his first two starts, Time for Truth will be ridden by Rafael Bejarano. Post time for the Rebel, race 11 on the card, is 6:23 ET.
