Time for Truth faces biggest test to date in $1.5 million Arkansas Derby (G1)

Time for Truth, owned by Harry Rosenblum and Cheyenne Stables LLC, will try to earn a trip to the Kentucky Derby (G1) when he goes postward in Saturday’s $1.5 million Arkansas Derby (G1) at Oaklawn Park.

The 3-year-old son of Omaha Beach, who won the 2019 Arkansas Derby, drew post 4 in the field of 10 going 1 1/8-miles.

Time for Truth made his debut on New Year’s Eve, winning a six-furlong maiden special weight race at Oaklawn in front-running style. He was second in a sloppy renewal of the Ozark S. on Feb. 10, the followed that up with a 1 1/16-mile allowance win, his first two-turn race, March 2 at Oaklawn.

Though lightly raced, Time for Truth is bred to handle the distance. His dam Shape Shifter is a daughter of Preakness S. (G1) and Haskell Inv. (G1) winner Lookin At Lucky. The bay colt is trained by Ron Moquett.

The Arkansas Derby awards Road to the Kentucky Derby points of 100-50-25-15-10 to the top five finishers in the race. A top-two finish would likely guarantee Time for Truth a spot in the starting gate for the first Saturday in May.

Time for Truth will be ridden Saturday by regular rider Rafael Bejarano. Post time for the Arkansas Derby, race 12 on the card, is 7:47 pm ET.
