Ulele’s sparkling performance in her stakes debut six weeks ago has prompted her connections to ship to Prairie Meadows to contest the $200,000 Iowa Oaks (G3) on July 5.
The Cheyenne Stables’ 3-year-old nearly pulled off the upset in the May 17 Black-Eyed Susan S. (G2), finishing just a half-length behind Point of Honor in what was Ulele’s first stakes start. Never worse than third in her six starts, Ulele has earned $174,200 to date.
Assigned post 1 in the seven-horse field going 1 1/16-miles, Ulele will be ridden by Florent Geroux, who was also aboard for her allowance win during the Keeneland spring meet.
The Oaks drew a solid field, including Fantasy S. (G3) winner Lady Apple, California Oaks winner Sold It, the highly-regarded Sweet Diane, and local favorite Taylor’s Spirit, a three-time stakes winner over the Prairie Meadows oval.
The Iowa Oaks is the sixth race on the Friday night card, with a post time of 9:27 p.m. ET.
